More on the Scorpions

The Scorpions compete in the Womens National Cricket League, in both the 50 over and T20 formats. For more details on the squad and latest news, click here.

Current Australian womens’ cricketer, Lauren Ebsary, captains the Scorpions, having filled the leadership role vacated by retiring legend, Shelley Nitschke.

With Australian all-rounder Nitschke, Julie Woerner and Neisha Iles retiring, coach Russell Thompson has loaded the squad with new talent, including three members of the current Australian under 18 womens development squad – Samantha Betts, Alex Price and Tahlia McGrath, and new import from the UK, Beth Morgan. Fast bowler, Megan Schutt, who is currently in the Australian Shooting Stars squad, also returns for the Scorpions.

The Scorpions also feature experienced English international, Beth Morgan, 30. A batter, Morgan has played seven Test matches, 72 ODIs and 28 T20 internationals for England, and spent three summers playing for St George-Sutherland in the Sydney grade competition. She has toured Australia with England during the Ashes in 2008 and the World Cup in 2009, and is keen on spending the summer in Australia, and playing on Adelaide Oval.
