Redbacks appoint Assistant Coach and Talent Manager
07 May 2009 - General News, Redbacks
SACA High Performance Manager, Jamie Cox has today announced the appointments of Jeff Vaughan as the Redbacks’ Assistant Coach and Ashley Ross as the state’s cricket Talent Manager.
“I have made it no secret that a restructure was on the way”, Jamie Cox said.
“In my view state level high performance cricket is all about developing cricketers with the capacity to play for Australia and that’s what the creation of these new roles is all about.
“Australian players are developed in an environment that enables individuals to invest optimum time and energy in their development. The support of a generalist Assistant Coach doubled with tailored specialist coaching is the best way of achieving this.
“Jeff is an ideal generalist. He has a long association with cricket both as a player, administrator and coach. He had a successful Grade career at Prospect and since 2007 he has coached the South Australian country team and managed SACA’s country cricket elite programs.
“Australian players are also found by vigorously searching for and identifying talented cricketers from across the country and Ashley will be charged with doing this in his capacity of Talent Manager.
“He will join SACA direct from Cricket Australia’s elite coach development program where he was a member of the national batting program committee, a mentor coach for Cricket Australia Level III and a coaching consultant for the Centre of Excellence.
“This new system more closely mirrors those adopted in other states but it exceeds them by providing expert consultant knowledge and focusing on strategically addressing contract list deficiencies.”
